You are cordially invited to the presentation "A Century of Challenges" on Wednesday, September 22 at 7:00 PM on the UW Madison Campus - Room 180 Science Hall, 550 North Park Street.
As a lead organizer for this event I believe it offers insights which will prove vital for our survival and well-being. Consider this: not only did Nicole Foss (the presenter) predict the financial meltdown well before it happened, she correctly explained WHY it would occur. Remember that nearly all of our economic experts, financial elites, and political leaders entirely failed to foresee the crash, much less identify the causal factors. This alone places Ms. Foss in rare company. But her foresight and deep penetration into the tangled, vexing quandaries of our time go far beyond the conventional thinking and outdated policies in which we are mired. Foreswearing obscure technical jargon, Foss uses common-sense language to explore a host of converging problems: the depletion of fossil fuels, the severe limitations of renewable energy, the self-immolating nature of hyper-complex finance, structural flaws in the banking system, the irrationality of mainstream economic assumptions about market behavior, recurring credit bubbles, inflation/deflation, the implosion of employment in domestic manufacturing, and rising potential for geopolitical conflict. After explaining the tremendous economic, social, and political challenges that lie before us, Foss concludes with strategies and practical guidelines for families, communities, businesses, and leaders. Building greater resilience, self-sufficiency, and regional interdependence will be essential.
