First, thanks for all the feedback about helmet-mounted bike lights! As for
the possibility of helmet-accessory mounting standards, might this be
something the Bike Federation (or other bicycling organization) could pursue
effectively?
Standards for interchangeability are so important! Bike racks & bags are
another place where good standards (and a good design, for that matter)
would be very useful. I have yet to see a bag-attachment system which is
"adequate" - and I have Ortleibs. There is nothing to absorb shock, nor are
provisions for lateral restraint (i.e. "flapping") effective. Every time I
put bags on I have to remember to string a bungie cord around them from the
back of the rack to the seat stays.
Maybe I should stop bellyaching and start a company and make this stuff. I
am a mechanical engineer, after all.
