Hello, Here is the email Bike Fed sent out today in response to the budget cuts. We are working closely with our lobbyists monitor the budget process and restore the funding in the 2012-2013 budget. We will need all of you to come to the budget hearings to speak out against this cut. I'll keep you updated on these dates and our message. Until then, the best action you can take is to register for the 2011 Wisconsin Bike Summit. Our main legislative ask is to restore the $5 million funding and we will need as many people as possible to attend and stand together.
If you have any questions of comments, please don't hesitate to contact us at 608-251-4456. Legislative Update The Governor's 2012-2013 budget eliminates* $5 million state bicycle funding. * * *This state funding supports vital bicycle projects across the state like bicycle plans that help build more bicycle-friendly communities and bicycle/pedestrian infrastructure such as paths and bridges. Together, we worked hard to establish this fund during the last budget cycle and together we'll work hard to restore it. We wanted to alert our members of these issues and to let you know that we are closely monitoring the budget process. We will continue to update you on the situation and will be calling you to action during the budget hearings. Now more than ever, it's important that we *stand together* as a bicycling community. The upcoming weeks are going to be critical in restoring our bicycle funding. *The best action you can take today to protect bicycling in Wisconsin is to register for the Wisconsin Bike Summit.* ** *Register now at www.bfw.org** * ________________________ Amanda White Associate Director Bicycle Federation of Wisconsin (608) 251-4456 [email protected] www.bfw.org
