Has anyone noticed an uptick in incidents with angry motorists on Seminole
Highway since the Badger Trail was completed? While riding in the road there
myself and my wife have now had a number of incidents with cars slowing down
(no opposing traffic) specifically to lay on their horn or scream at us. I
also have a message in my inbox this morning about an altercation with a
driver over the weekend in which a small group of riders were yelled at and
then one was struck by the driver of a BMW.

I love the new Badger Trail (rode it to a wedding in Freeport, IL last
fall), but the location along the edge of Seminole is problematic. I will
often stay in the road rather than taking the path when heading south for a
few reasons:

   - If there is much traffic, I don't want to wait to cross Seminole
   - I am often heading west at the end of Seminole, away from the path
   - The path is often full of slower moving walkers, skaters and families
on bikes, and it drives me crazy when I am on a path commuting and some
lycra-clad roadie goes blasting by (not that I am fast enough to be
considered blasting), so I try to avoid doing that to others

The new path is great - I see tons of people out that way that I never saw
out there before the path, but the sidepath nature of it gives motorists the
impression that ALL bikers belong there.

Anyone else having problems on Seminole north of Whalen?

Kevin
