Dear Mayor Soglin,
So I just heard that the August Ride the Drive may be cancelled due to concerns about automobile access to business. Can you please demonstrate to me where the negative impact would be on local businesses? I had heard business INCREASED during previous RTD's. Also, I would be interested in your data on how future RTD participation would likely be impacted by changing the route to a location that is less attractive to people. It seems to me that if you are going to limit bicycle access on RTD in order to facilitate automobile access, you are doing so because of the attractions for the automobile drivers, which in most cases, are attractions for bicyclists too. Perhaps if the city put a bit more effort into attracting more participants, the additional bicyclists would more than offset the reduction in automobile traffic. = Matt Logan 1822 Jenifer Street Madison WI 53704
