Dear members of the Don Miller lot RFP selection committee:
I read over the RFP and did not find any mention of East Mifflin street being designated a bike boulevard. I'm hoping that at least one of you will see this as an important aspect of future development on this site, and will solicit feedback from all applicants concerning this matter. A colleague of mine at the the library where I work was killed this week while crossing a street here in Madison. This tragedy has caused me to relive my own experience of being struck by a car that ran a stop sign while biking home from work on East Mifflin at the corner of this development site -- East Mifflin and Livingston. In order for our neighborhoods to remain livable, we must strive to promote safety wherever we can. East Mifflin is still the only relatively safe biking corridor for the Tenney Lapham Neighborhood. I'm hoping that any future development on this site will work to minimize traffic onto the bike boulevard.
