The Madison Area Transportation Planning Board (TPB) - A Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) has completed a draft report regarding the Congestion Management Process for the Madison Metropolitan Area. Adoption of a Congestion Management Process (CMP) is a Federal requirement of MPOs in urban areas with more than 200,000 persons such as Madison. The CMP is intended to be a structured and coordinated way for MPOs and their member agencies to address congestion mitigation consistent with congestion related goals and objectives in the MPO's long-range regional transportation plan. The draft CMP report is available on the MPO's website at http://www.MadisonAreaMPO.org/.
A public hearing on the Congestion Management Process (CMP) report has been scheduled for Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. before the Madison Area Transportation Planning Board (TPB) at the City-County Building, 210 MLK Jr. Blvd., Room 351. A public information meeting has also been scheduled for Thursday, September 29, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the City-County Building, Room 354. The meeting will be an open house format with a presentation at 5:45 p.m. The Madison Area TPB is also in the process of completing an interim update of the Regional Transportation Plan 2030 for the Madison Metropolitan Area & Dane County, the long-range multi-modal transportation plan. Background information and maps related to the regional plan update will also be available at the meeting. Additional meetings on the plan update will be held later this year. All written comments should be submitted to the Madison Area TPB by Wednesday, October 5, the date of the public hearing. Comments may be mailed to the office, emailed to staff at [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>, or submitted via the MPO's website. Depending upon comments received, the Madison Area TPB may take action on the Congestion Management Process report at the October 5 meeting.
