Great article with one correction: while our Parks Division commits
substantial equipment and personnel to the effort, it is actually
administered by the Street Division Superintendent – the “Snow Boss”. In
fact every field operation participates in this effort except Traffic
Engineering (it’s a little early in the morning for them J.)

Engineering maintains the data base and updates with the new paths and
connections. This often requires field GPS work. Maps are prepared and
annually the Streets, Engineering, and Parks field supervisors meet to
divide up the various segments based geographical efficiency. Engineering
then updates the data base to designate which agency does the segments and
what equipment is employed. Most of the workers have access to ruggedized
lap tops to display the routes.
