Hello India, Just wanted to make sure you and others on this list serve know that the National Bike Summit is March 20 - 22 in DC. The focus of this year's Summit is saving bicycling and pedestrian Transportation Enhancement (TE) Funding. The treat of losing TE money is very real. This would hugely affect the opportunity for building bike/ped facilities in communities across the state. The League of American Bicyclists, Bikes Belong, the Alliance for Biking and Walking and a few other national advocacy groups on focused on this issue of federal funding.
The National Summit will be important in the fight to save our TE funding. I would encourage folks to please consider making the trip if you can. http://www.bikeleague.org/conferences/summit12/index.php For those that aren't able to attend, Bike Fed is sending 3 people from our office and we will make sure information learned at the Summit is shared with our bicycle community. Also, the planning efforts are underway for the 2012 Wisconsin Bike Summit. We should be sending a Save the Date this week.
