*Advocacy and Special Event Intern*

*Job Description*



The Bicycle Federation of Wisconsin (Bike Fed) seeks an Advocacy and
Special Event Intern to assist the Associate Director in moving bicycling
forward in Madison and across the state. The Intern will help coordinate
special events such as the Wisconsin Bike Summit, Bike To Work Week and the
Wisconsin Bike Challenge, in addition to assisting with bicycle advocacy
efforts in the Madison area.



The Advocacy and Special Event Intern’s responsibilities include:



   - Assisting in various areas of planning for the Wisconsin Bike Summit
   - Recruiting participants for the 2012 Wisconsin Bike Challenge
   - Coordinating commuter stations and other events during Bike To Work
   Week
   - Attending bicycling meetings in the Madison area
   - Writing articles for Madison area publications

The ideal candidate is a team player with strong interpersonal
communication skills who is passionate about improving Wisconsin bike
opportunities. Candidates will be detail-oriented and able to work during
normal business hours.



The position is 8 – 10 hours/week and will be based out of the Madison
office. The internship will run from January 15 – May 31 (these dates are a
bit flexible). We are not able to monetarily compensate for the position,
but the candidate will gain strong experience in special event planning,
communication, and working inside the bicycling community.
