Police Lt. Tim Golden said the victim was a 51-year-old Eau Claire man. The man was riding his bike Friday about 12:30 p.m. when he was struck. He was taken to a hospital with severe injuries. Police Lt. Greg Weber said alcohol wasn't a factor in the collision. He said investigators are looking into whether the driver fell asleep, had a medical issue or just got confused. An Eau Claire Leader-Telegram report said the names of the driver and bicyclist haven't been released. Weber said a police crash-reconstruction unit was expected to be at the collision site.
