I'm really glad to see the lively discussion here about safety on East Wilson. I don't ride this as often as many of you, but I am well aware of the hazards. With cars parked near the path on the intersecting streets it can be really difficult to spot oncoming traffic. More lighting? YES! Bumpouts? Yes! Better policing? Yes! And frankly I'd like to see some serious enforcement of bicycle lighting laws. I see way too many bicyclists on Madison paths and streets with no lights, no reflective clothing, etc.
Thanks Marsha for offering to get this on City agenda. I presume you will alert bikies when it would be useful to show up at meetings, contact alders, etc. Hans Noeldner Pedestrian/Bicycle/Transit/Sustainability Advocate Chair, Madison Peak Oil Group <http://www.entropicjournal.blogspot.com/> www.entropicjournal.blogspot.com Oregon, Wisconsin 608-444-6190 "If such a thing as free will is possible, it will manifest itself among citizens who live as though they already have it."
