I'm resending this because the attachment caused Bikies software to choke.

Got this [below] from the V. of Shorewood Hills administrator. A bit more
info on the work to be done.

As an aside, I think people getting off the bus at the stops on University
Ave west of University Bay Dr/Farley and walking to the UW and Am Fam
Hospitals will find walking on the east side of Univ Bay Dr quite annoying,
especially since there isn't a sidewalk to whole way. The Village has a
detour outlined below, but it is ridiculously out of the way and not ADA
compliant. (Any lawyers out there?) There was a pdf of the detour attached
to the email I received, but I can't send the attachment to the list.

I'll see if I can get them to post it on their site, but I'm not
optimistic. (If you've been to the VSH site, you'll know why.

Beginning on Monday July 16, 2012 and continuing through approximately
October 31, 2012, there will be ongoing street and utility work along the
west edge of ****University Bay Drive**** from ****University Avenue**** to
250 feet north of ****Marshall Court****. The street will be widened by
moving the western curb line and sidewalk approximately 10 feet west of its
current location and is being done to better accommodate bicycle traffic.
When completed, this stretch of ****University Bay Drive**** will contain
one northbound vehicle lane, one northbound bicycle lane, one southbound
vehicle lane and one southbound shared bicycle/vehicle lane.****

The widening requires burial of major overhead utility wires, which will
begin July 16 and extend for the next 10 weeks. The actual street widening
will occur from October 1 to October 31. Throughout construction, traffic
in the work area will be shifted toward the east side of the street, with
one lane kept open northbound and southbound at all times. Northbound
lanes will be shifted, but not closed. Southbound traffic will be confined
to one lane north of the railroad tracks. Bicycles will be allowed to
share the lanes, as they currently do. ****

The existing sidewalk along the west side of ****University Bay Drive****from
****University Avenue**** to 250 feet of ****Marshall Court**** will be
closed during the project. Pedestrians will be detoured to the east side
of ****University Bay Drive south**** of ****Marshall Court****, and then
around the west and north sides of the ****800 University Bay
Drive****office building for destinations north of
****Marshall Court****. The detour route involves several sets of stairs.
A sketch of the detour is attached.****

Bicyclists and pedestrians are advised to use extreme caution in the area
due to the heavy traffic volume and construction activities.****
