Good morning, everyone. Well, my commuter bike was stolen last Thursday night/Friday morning out of what was probably a garage left open overnight. (I suppose someone could have defeated the garage door opener security, but it seems a lot of trouble for a single bicycle.) Police report was filed by my wife (I was out of town) and I'm awaiting a call back from the Bicycle Recovery Program folx. I did have it registered with the City with a sticker on it.
The person I spoke with at the police department stated that they had a pretty high recovery rate. Anyone here with experience with the process? How long is reasonable to wait before I replace the bicycle? What are the chances of it being recovered in one piece? The irony is that it wasn't a particularly new (3-4 years, perhaps?) or expensive bike -- I think it was the closest to the door, so they took it and fled.
