The Capital City Trail crossing will be much safer in the future since bikers there will also have the ability to push a button to cause lights to flash to point out to drivers the need to stop. That is one of the reasons I recommended, and voted for, the compromise of RRFBs. -snip-
I agree the compromise is better than the original plan, which only addressed Cannonball. The Capital City crossing has been problematic for cyclists, especially during heavy traffic hours, and lights there will help immensely. A lowering of the speed limit on Seminole would also enhance safety. That leaves one other important crossing searching for a solution: Badger State @ PD. I'm the incoming president of Friends of Badger State Trail. We expect to discuss that issue at our fall meeting. If there is anything in the works, it would be helpful for us to know in advance. I have a parochial interest, too, as I am contemplating a move to Fitchburg. One of the big factors in my decision is the excellent planning that's been done, incorporating bike paths into developments, making Fitchburg very bicycle friendly.
