organizations across North America, is seeking a Research Manager to work
with the Alliance’s National Bicycling and Walking Benchmarking Project. ***

The Benchmarking Project Manager will report to the Alliance’s
President/CEO. The Benchmarking Project collects and analyzes data from all
50 states and the top 50 cities (by population) on bicycling, walking, and

This is a ¾-time to full-time position. The Benchmarking Project Manager
will coordinate a team of national advisors and reviewers, manage a
part-time program assistant*, collect and organize national and local data,
and write and design the 2014 and future Benchmarking Reports.  ****

 Responsibilities include:

   - Coordinate all research, outreach, writing, review, and oversight of
   the 2014 Benchmarking Report
   - Serve as the primary author and designer of the 2014 Benchmarking
   Report
   - Coordinate a team of national advisors and reviewers
   - Manage a part-time assistant who will help with data entry and outreach
   - Coordinate contract details and reporting with sponsors including the
   Centers for Disease Control
   - Develop surveys, outreach letters, web copy, and other materials
   needed for the Benchmarking Project
   - Compile media fact sheets, support materials, funder reports, and
   future reports
   - Outreach to and coordination with government officials and advocates
   completing Benchmarking surveys
   - Input data received from Benchmarking surveys and from government and
   other national databases into our system
   - Perform calculations and analysis with Benchmarking data
   - Make various graphs and charts using Benchmarking data
   - Conduct additional research in support of the Benchmarking Project
   including research into new data sets, reviewing related reports and
   studies, researching contacts for sharing report findings, researching new
   funding opportunities, and other research as needed
   - Research and recommend additional offerings, formats, and products to
   improve access and usability of the Benchmarking Project and Report
   - Additional outreach as needed in support of the project including
   outreach to survey respondents to clarify answers or seek additional
   information as needed
   - Track media and usage relating to the Benchmarking Report and related
   products

Qualifications:****

   - Demonstrated ability to work independently and meet deadlines****
   - Strong attention to detail****
   - Data collection, research, and analysis experience ****
   - Extensive knowledge of current technology, database tools, and
   Microsoft Excel****
   - Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite: Illustrator, In Design, and
   Photoshop****
   - Ability to work in DC office work from home office with high-speed
   Internet connection****
   - Excellent communication skills****
   - Superb writing skills****
   - Can-do attitude ****
   - Knowledge of bicycle and pedestrian issues is a plus****
   - Familiarity with government databases a plus (databases used include
   ACS, NHTS, FARS, FHWA’s FMIS, BRFSS, and others)****
   - Experience with GIS and access to GIS software a plus****
   - Previous research and administrative experience ****
   - Previous project and employee management experience****

If not working in the DC office, the applicant must be willing and able to
work from home from your own computer and software and must have access to
a dependable phone. ****

Compensation will be relative to experience and ¾- or full-time $38,000 to
$53,000 plus health and retirement benefits.****
