Well, when it rains it pours. There are THREE really interesting events
happening next Thursday, October 11. It sucks that we can't attend all
three, but hopefully everyone will be able to attend at least one.

1. *1000 Friends of Wisconsin will be honoring John Coleman* as Land Use
Visionary for his work to get the [no-longer] Missing Link built. This is
part of their Smart People, Smart Places awards and fundraiser.
More information can be found here:

It would be really great to have lots of Bikies come out to honor John and
generally celebrate the progress we have made to making Madison, and
Wisconsin a great place to bike. And 1000 Friends is a great organization
deserving of our support as well.

*Union South, **5:30 – 7:30 PM. **Hearty Hors d’oeuvres. **$30.00*

2. You've already heard about *Fed Fes*t, a gathering and bike ride at/from
Capital Brewery in Middleton. A chance to talk to Bike Fed staff and hang
with other volunteers and members.

3. Finally, there is a community meeting about *safety on North Sherman Ave
at the Warner Park Community Cente*r. Many people have written about the
lack of a decent bike route through the north side. Others have asked why
there are no bike lanes on North Sherman. Others have worried about
pedestrian crossings of the road, which really is a problem. Well, here's
your chance to weigh in on what should be done. Especially if you live,
work, play, or shop on the north side, your voice will be important.
6:30 - 8:30 PM at Warner Park.

So, no matter whether you want to be north, west, or campus area, there's
an event for you next Thursday. Don't say no one asked your opinion or
there's nothing to do!
