Recent bicycle crashes and resulting deaths in Madison made me wonder, did the victims' families have recourse to insurance coverage? Also many pedestrian crashes this summer, Monroe Street seemed in the news more than usual. A hit-and-run is the same as an uninsured driver.
Our family owns one car, so we have uninsured/underinsured $500,000 coverage. I checked and all members of our family are covered whether in our car or if they are pedestrians or bicyclists and involved in a crash by a hit-and-run or uninsured driver. What if an uninsured/underinsured motor vehicle driver hits you while you're on your bike but you don't own a car? Insurance for bicyclists has never been an option because there wasn't a company in the United States that sold such a product. Until now.
