With the warmer weather it seems like a good time to do some maintenance on
the bike paths. Many still have a good ice (now slush) base from the storm
but could easily be shoveled due to the above freezing temps. My street
dead ends at the Cap City trail on the east side and I have thought about
getting out there with a shovel and doing some maintenance work but it
would be great if an informal group could be established that could grow
this idea. I see it as kind of an adopt a bike path program. You may say
that it is the job of the city or county to do this but when there is a
need not being met it is sometimes easier to just do it yourself.
If anyone else is interested please let me know and we can start recording
where people live and what part of the path they can clear and perhaps we
can get a neat google map or some other GIS system to track our progress as
to not duplicate work.
