Glad to see bicycles made the cut. First time I've reviewed this DOT report.
I would hope in the future more sustainability measures could be included.
Meeting our society's needs for transportation of people and goods might be
DOT's bottom-line reason to exist. Defining measures that show progress in
social benefits (considering human well-being, community health/wealth, and
vibrant natural environment), that are sustainable and resilient would be the
trick.
For instance, measuring "freeway congestion" does not provide much insight.
