Cyclist struck and killed by vehicle on Hwy. 61

WARREN COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -
A man was struck and killed by an oncoming vehicle Friday night while bicycling
along Highway 61 in Vicksburg just after 9 p.m.
According to Mississippi Highway Patrol, a van struck 25-year-old Christopher
Vogts while he was traveling on a bicycle. The fatal crash occurred about five
miles north of Vicksburg.
Vogts, of Deforest, Wisconsin, was traveling southbound when a silver 2012
Dodge van, traveling in the same direction, collided with the cyclist. Vogts
was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the van was identified as 40-year-old Eric Thompson of Jackson.
No charges have been filed in this incident, but officials say the
investigation is ongoing.
