I agree with everything that Tim et al have pointed out. I use that so-called "detour" and it has been a huge headache, impassable at times. By their inaction regarding this major biking corridor, the city is demonstrating that it gives lip service only to biking for commuting, transportation and pleasure, and in fact gives it little priority compared to cars. So much for city priorities and support for "alternative" modes of transportation".
