USDOT Sec. Ray LaHood said at the Natl Bike Summit that he was going to
hold a series of summits around the country to talk about making roadways
safer for bicyclists.

Well, if you are interested in attending one, here's your chance. It's
free, and it's going to be in Minneapolis April 29. Not too far away.

Your chance to weigh in on what the federal government should do, and also
how to design streets to make them safer and more friendly to non-motorized
transportation.

There was some buzz a few weeks ago, when some in the bike-ped field felt
that LaHood had challenged AASHTO - the dominant organization for setting
roadway standards - on design, implying that they weren't doing a good
enough job. I wrote an article for my work about that:
http://www.ssti.us/2013/03/lahoods-call-for-u-s-dot-to-issue-standards-to-make-roadways-safer-for-non-motorized-users-causes-a-stir/

This is the follow-up: LaHood wants to hear from users how the roads should
be designed.

Don't say you weren't invited.
