Epic Systems in Verona pays for express transit service to their campus and
Verona downtown from the Capital Square and the West Transfer Point. The
service from the Capital Sq has been phenomenally successful. A month or so
ago, the [Madison] Metro Transit General Manager Chuck Kamp told me, "In 31
years in the transit business, I have never seen a route like this. It's
only been running for seven months, and it's already standing room only."

This is a fairly common occurrence around the country: High tech firm that
are outside the main, cool, hip, happening city find that their employees
want to live IN the city, and they don't want to drive to work every day.
Many firms run private
shuttles<http://www.ssti.us/2013/01/silicon-valley-shuttles-change-the-face-of-public-transit-in-san-francisco/>from
the city to the campus, or subsidize routes run by the public transit
agency.

Of course, the CEO of Epic is not exactly a contributor to Walker's
campaign, having pulled out of WMC because of their support for
conservative candidates. However, she is a major employer with a growing,
successful business in Wisconsin. Creating jobs anyone?

And, of course, UW-Madison and the UW Hospital, along with St Marys
Hospital (and maybe Meriter?) provide bus passes to all employees. They
have seen the value of giving employees transportation choices and also NOT
building more parking.
