Report: tow truck driver at fault in bicyclist's death

MADISON (WKOW) -- A report on the deadly collision between a bicyclist and
a tow truck driver in Madison states the truck driver failed to yield
before hitting and killing the cyclist.

The MV-4000 accident report states 47-year Stephen Rader of Madison was
eastbound in the bicycle lane of Mineral Point Road May 24 when tow truck
driver Mitchell Edge of Hollandale turned left from Mineral Point to South
Yellowstone Drive, striking Rader.

Madison Police spokesperson Joel DeSpain says Edge was in violation for
failing to yield, but says no citation will be issued until
an investigation into the accident is complete. DeSpain says authorities
are awaiting the results of toxicology tests on Edge.

Rader was a UW-Madison staff member in the physics department.
