not to mention each property tax has a Metro bus component...I believe we paid 
over $300 this year..and are fine with that, to help subsidize the important 
mode..sorta similar to cycling (albeit a LOT less) things paid for in our 
taxes...we call it "investment and return"..the return is huge for the amount 
put in....alas mr. Rickert has to be snarky to appease his employers....rarely 
cogent...hoped for better from a former Evanston guy...alas, he continues to 
play his "role".

Sounds like a great idea! Unfortunately that's not actually the point  
he's trying to make.

Instead he thinks we should tax bikes to pay for bike infrastructure,  
even though, as Robbie points out, we already do pay for bike  
infrastructure.

I guess the really stupid part is the implication that this 'bike tax'  
would somehow relax the car/bike tension on the road. I'm not buying it.
