I did this ride last year and yes, you need to make sure your entire
morning is free.  You need to plan for riding with kids who may be on bmx
bikes that aren't really appropriate for a long ride, or bikes that may
break down along the way. Also, some of the kids aren't used to riding
bikes for very long, so you may need to take frequent stops.

It's also helpful to bring some tools along (including an adjustable
wrench) and a pannier to store water bottles, jackets, etc.

Overall, though, fun ride.
