What really ticks me off is the disingenuous comment from the mall owners in response to both stories that they provide direct access to the mall for people that use "Transit Plus<http://www.ridemcts.com/Programs/Transit-Plus/>." This is the paratransit service, and it is: 1. Far more expensive for users, usually several multiples of the regular bus fare. 2. Generally not available for users that are physically able to use a regular "fixed route" transit route. 3. You have to actually apply to the transit system to get access to paratransit. I can't find any information on why the mall owners think that moving the stop will increase safety for pedestrians, as they stated in the first story. I'm guessing it's another case of mall owners not wanting transit users to have easy access to the property. 'Cause, you know, no one that has any money would use transit. And people that use transit are.... um.... not the target audience. Jerks. Sort of reminds me of this case, which also involved a mall that didn't want transit, except in this case, it was the city, not the mall that made the decision.
