Got the message below from the city.

(In case anyone else wants to get updates like this automatically, you can
sign up at the city's website. You have to create an account, but can then
select the types of updates you want to get: areas of the city, subject
matters, etc. This one is the "bike madison" list. I only get a message
every couple of months, so it's not going to overwhelm your email.)

Subject: [Bike Madison] Southwest Path Segments to Close for Tree Trimming

Southwest Path Segments to Close for Tree Trimming

ALERT: Segments of the Southwest Path will be closed, or partially closed
for major tree trimming work by Madison Gas & Electric Co. This type of
work has to be done periodically to protect their overhead power lines, and
was last done five years ago.

The path will be closed in segments, and only from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM in
order to avoid most commuter traffic. The segments and dates of closures
are as follows:

   - Breese Ter. to Commonwealth Ave: 2/24/14 thru 2/25/14
   - Commonwealth Ave to Glenway St: 2/25/14 thru 2/26/14
   - Glenway St. to Odana Rd: 2/26/14 thru 2/27/14
   - Odana Rd. to Midvale Blvd: 2/28/14

The Path closures are needed for safety reasons. We ask that bicyclists and
pedestrians use alternate routes on these days and we apologize for the
inconvenience. Any questions can be directed to Tony
Fernandez<[email protected]>in Madison engineering.
