The intersection of the Cap City Trail at Dennett Drive is covered with a very
fine, black crushed material that's easy to mistake for asphalt. I'd guess
it's a base layer over which asphalt will be laid soon.
As I did not this morning, you probably will want to slow down crossing it.
It's all the more risky because it's not a straightaway through this
intersection: the CCT turns, on Dennett Drive, to cross the RR tracks,
continuing SE to Dempsey Rd / NW to Olbrich Gardens.
