One of my colleagues here at SSTI just write a great blog post for the
League of American Bicyclists. It's about how over-designing road can lead
to them not being safe for pedestrians and bicyclists.

For those not complete transportation geeks, it's a good introduction to
how we are often designing roads that actually encourage drivers to go
faster than the posted speed limit.
