The City of Madison Parking Utility will be holding a public meeting to explore the potential for expanding car-sharing in Madison. Representatives from car-sharing companies will make short presentations, with a question and answer session to follow. The meeting will be held at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 in Room 260 of the Madison Municipal Building, 215 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Madison, WI 53703. Car-sharing has been known to reduce the need for car ownership. According to a nationwide study published by the University of California Transportation Center, one car-sharing vehicle can replace as many as nine to thirteen individually owned vehicles, resulting in reduced congestion, greenhouse gas emissions, and need for parking supply. Car sharing has also been associated with increased use of transit, walking, and biking. Members of the public, neighborhood organizations, local businesses, and interested parties are encouraged to attend. Thank you, Bill Putnam, P.E., CPP Interim Parking Operations Manager City of Madison Parking Utility PO Box 2986 Madison, WI 53701-2986 (608) 266-6528 See our website at www.cityofmadison.com/parkingutility
