Background: US DOT Sec Anthony Foxx issued a challenge to mayors to improve
on biking and walking in their cities.


I think Madison and surrounding localities do pretty well on the US DOT's
list, but there's room for improvement. For example, on No. 3 we have
limited bike data and really no walking data from counts, and our last
household survey is a decade and a half out of date.

Since we have mayoral elections coming up, this would be a good time for
candidates to answer the challenge.

My challenge to mayors: Are you ready to boost bike-ped safety?
