Wednesday, February 11, 2015, Madison's Transit and Parking Commission will hold a Public Hearing regarding Metro's plan to eliminate popular bus stops on Jenifer Street, including stops heavily used by elders, people with disabilities, children, commuters, and people patronizing the many businesses on Williamson Street. The Commission's Transit Development Plan also includes plans to eliminate bus stops on other Isthmus routes and elimination of bus routes within the SASY Council and other neighborhoods.
The Transit and Parking Commission is tasked with making the final recommendations to Madison's Common Council and Metro, so speaking up at this meeting is very important for bus riders, advocates, businesses, and city residents concerned with maintaining livable neighborhoods and a balanced transportation system. The hearing is on February 11, 2015 at 5:00 pm, 215 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, Room 260, Madison Municipal Building (after 6:00 pm use the Doty Street entrance). See the attached letters of opposition from the Schenk Atwood Starkweather Yahara (SASY) Neighborhood Council and the Madison Area Bus Advocates for ideas and speaking points.
