Also, from an engineering point of view, paved shoulder make the roadbed
last longer, because the edge always goes first.

And in urban/congested areas, the more people NOT driving during peak hour,
the easier it is to manage traffic. Everyone that walks, bike, carpools,
takes the bus, works from home, or drives off-peak is not contributing to
the congestion that drives commuters nuts. If enough people chose a
different mode, cities and states can avoid costly expansion or even
less-expensive traffic management solutions.

Larry, you of all people know the cost of everything from traffic signals
to lane miles on the Beltline. Anyone that isn't clogging up the roads and
parking spaces is actually saving businesses and the taxpayers money.
