That would be a question for the City Traffic Engineering Dept and/or Sarah.
My experience and speculation would be: 1. Yes, counts are available, but are not on a website or document that the public can access. (And yes, they should be. I have pointed that out to the parties involved.) 2. In the past, the city and the Bike Fed did not coordinate locations closely. City had one set of locations and process for collecting data, and Bike Fed had a different set of locations and a different process for doing counts. This made it difficult to do year-to-year or seasonal comparisons or use the data in official city documents. >From the map, it looks like the city -- with Bike Fed's help -- is concentrating on commuting traffic into (or out of, because of the hours they are doing counts) the two largest employment centers in the city: the Capital Square/outer loop and the UW campus. Instead of trying to count corridors, they are doing screen counts. That means, covering every corridor into or out of a specific area. All the main entrances to the UW campus from the south are covered, plus a counts to cover people coming from Shorewood Hills and Eagle Hts. All the entrances to the outer loop are also covered. I guess the idea is to find out how people are getting to/from those specific locations, not trying to cover all major routes in the city. It's a different kind of count than "how many people are using the Mifflin Bike Blvd, the East Isthmus Path, State St, or Sherman? Hopefully, the City and Bike Fed will have a consistent methodology to allow comparisons. And also hopefully the counts will be expanded to other areas of the city to show usage of major corridors.
