Yes, but the reason why younger folks are driving less is not as important as is that the fact that they are doing so. By driving less, they are putting less strain on Wisconsin's highway system, and the need (and cost ) of highway expansion. Just as important is that they are causing less impact on our environment; and they should be rewarded for doing so. Wisconsinites should be rewarded financially for driving less (miles), over the year, as I proposed while working for the Wisconsin DNR in 1999, and as described in "The Spoken Word" newsletter in August of 1999. I am still proposing that the State of Wisconsin offer MONETARY INCENTIVES TO THOSE WHO DRIVE LESS MILES, annually, but the incentives be RAISED CONSIDERABLY now because the severe and long term environmental impacts of GLOBAL WARMING justify the greater incentives. see www.allthingsenvironmental for details of the latest Conserve, NOW plan for reducing greenhouse gas emissions from Wisconsin.
