We have had a discussion on this list multiple times over the last 10-12 years that usually involved some variation on this:
"What is the deal with stop signs on the path? Aren't we supposed to be able to use the crosswalk just like a pedestrian, and shouldn't drivers yield to bicyclists in the crosswalk just like they are supposed to yield to pedestrians?" That very question appears to have played a part in the decision of the Dane County DA to not file charges against the driver who hit and killed the young woman crossing Raymond Rd on the Ice Age Junction path. http://host.madison.com/news/local/bicyclist-in-fatal-madison-crash-failed-to-yield-to-car/article_422a3f24-0a9b-5e33-a0b1-82b4c4a89a4b.html Robbie Webber Transportation Policy Analyst 608-263-9984 (o) 608-225-0002 (c) [email protected] All opinions expressed are my own and do not necessarily reflect those of my employer or any other group with which I am affiliated.
