Is this definitly fixed in 1.2.6 since it is a k.o.-argument > against binc!? I've never experienced that problem, so I would say "Yes". Also there where some discussions in the dev-list and as I read from them, it seams to be fixed. > - Since I'm no authentcation specialist: can binc used with simple > authentication against unix-system-password using /etc/shadow and pam > just like uw does? As I understand it, bincimap uses "checkpassword" for authentification purposes, which can then uses shadow. Somebody may please correct me here... > - How fast is Binc compared to courier/uw/cyrus ? Your biggest problem is that bincimap doesn't support mbox. If you want to support users without procmail mail delivery you will have to set up a MTA which supports the maildir-format. I don't know sendmail too good (I really dislike its configuration), but I'm pretty sure there is a patch for it... if not, take a look at postfix or exim. :-) Well, and what concerns your /var/mail... you will have to think of another way to share your mails, like having mbox-files_and_ maildir (very ugly solution). bincimap will (in the current version) never be able to use the mbox files, and it sounds like you need mbox for other programs. > Sorry for the long e-mail.
