Lightweight and mailserver don't really go very well together, but I think
qmail is what you're looking for. :)

There are of course lots of other mail servers, I did a survey back in 1999
when I wanted to move from sendmail. I remember looking at postfix, zmail,
smail, qmail and probably some others I've forgotten. I settled with qmail
and have never looked back. I'm very happy with it. Oh, and I still run
the same version I installed in 1999 too, which says a lot about code
quality.

I don't think qmail is at all ugly to configure. I think people overreact
to the slightly different way of configuration, but I for one think that
e.g. Binc's configuration is uglier. This is highly subjective though. :)

The benefit of open source. You can learn how to use really powerful tools
in your own home! The best way to find out which mail server you prefer is
to try a couple of different ones. Now that you know postfix, why not give
qmail a spin? :)
