patch -l doesn't work for me:
tranquility /usr/local/src/mail/bincimap/bincimap-1.2.7final # !patch
patch -l -p0 < ../binc-1.2.7-final.vmailmgr.patch
patching file src/argparser.cc

looking at the file in vim it appears the line endings are all screwy (Thanks
kmail!) although opening it in kwrite and saving it again saved it back with
UNIX line endings, which resolved this issue for me.
Now on to testing:
tranquility /usr/local/src/mail/bincimap/bincimap-1.2.7final # telnet
localhost 143
Trying 127.0.0.1...

I'm assuming though, that this is a hack.... but it'll do for now ;)
