I got Bincimap built and installed (thanks to help
from this list), and I'm using telnet to test the
connection (since Thunderbird fails to log in). Trying
to log in with my regular Mac username and password
returns this:
1 NO LOGIN failed: Login failed. Either your user name
or your password was wrong. Please try again, and if
the problem persists, please contact your system
administrator.
I imagine that this is because checkpassword doesn't
know anything about Netinfo (where Panther keeps
username and password information, instead of
/etc/passwd .
What's the right way to do this on Panther? Do I have
to change this line from /etc/xinet.d/imap :
server_args =
--conf=/usr/local/etc/bincimap.conf --logtype=syslog -
- /bin/checkpassword /usr/local/bin/bincimapd
Or is there a netinfo-aware drop-in for checkpassword?
