Hi all,
I’m relatively new to the whole IMAP concept and have tried many different IMAP servers. I haven’t been able to get any up and running (Courier-IMAP being the WORST), but I have managed to get Binc up and running with the help of an RPM.
I’ve had a few problems, but managed to sort them, however I’m having a bit of trouble creating folders. In Outlook 2002, I connect to the mailbox, right click and hit “New Folder”. For arguments sake, this folder is called “Test”. Now, I hit okay and it throws back the following message
“Unable to create the folder. The server responded: ‘CREATE failed: unable to create .Test/cur: Permission denied’”
Now, it seems, it’s a permission problem :P But for the life of me I cannot work out why it’s happening. I haven’t made any changes from the default setup, apart from the fact that I have Binc running under Root.
<< Security { jail path = "/opt/bincimap/bin", jail user = "root", jail group = "root" } >>
I know, I know, not supposed to be like that. But it was as a last resort. I have even changed the UMask to 0777. Does it show that I’m quite a beginner in Linux?
The whole operation is for my boss. He wanted a cheap IMAP server, so since I had (basic) experience with creating Webservers, DNS servers and the like in Linux, I thought why not IMAP? It’s only so he can have 3 different computers sharing the same email account with all the emails showing on ALL the computers. I’m hoping fetchmail will be able to grab from an external POP account, and shove them into Binc’s inbox. Possible?
Many regards,
Steve |
