Well, I thought having shared folders (especially flags like "seen",
"answered") would be a good idea for role-accounts like e.g. [EMAIL PROTECTED]
[EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] where several people work on one mailbox.
Obviously a mailinglist is not very usefull in that case.

Jan,

Maybe you don't need the complexity of a shared-folder with elaborate permissions. Can you just share the account instead?

We use Binc to provide role-accounts. You simply given everybody the shared username and password for the role account, and they can set up their email client accordingly. (They can add personal accounts using non-shared usernames and passwords too, of course). We might typically have five computers accessing the same "sales" account, for instance. The "seen" flags propagate correctly.

The were some synchronization problems with this approach when we were testing early versions of Binc and Thunderbird, but everything works well with the current stable versions. I'm quite happy with the system.
