IMHO specific configuration options are bad, whereas general extensibility is good. For this to be really reliable, a new delivery should probably be made to the Maildir, and the original message removed. And this causes various problems in itself. If the purpose is to store email in compressed form and offer no read access other than via Binc, it's better to just implement the compression in the delivery program as well as in the Binc extension.
