Oddly enough, the error message is exactly right, and indicates the 
exact problem.

Thunderbird is under the impression that the Sent folder must by default 
be at the top-level. However, with the Maildir++-style depots, this is 
not possible. Your options are to either go to Thunderbird's preferences 
and tell it to use the Sent folder that is a subfolder of INBOX, or 
convert your Binc server to use an IMAPdir-style depot instead of a 
Maildir++-style one.
