It's not a race condition as such in my case at least, because I configured exactly one MUA (KMail) to access my IMAP accounts, and got the error on a continual basis (varied a bit, but anywhere between once every 30 minutes to several times every 5...). This is the same thing I mentioned here and reported to the dev list on the 15th without response.
