Greetings, Recently on bind-users I asked whether anyone is using the lightweight resolver interface to BIND (lwresd, named with a "lwres" statement in named.conf, applications linked with liblwres).
Only one person responded that they do use it, and their use of it is one that affords alternative solutions. There was quite a lot of support for the idea of deprecating it, and no objections. Consequently, the lightweight resolver interface will be removed from BIND as of 9.12.0, currently scheduled for sometime around the end of this year. The lightweight resolver will remain available in all earlier branches. BIND 9.11 will be supported for several years to come.
