Hello, In line with ISC's deprecation policy, I am notifying the mailing list of our intent to deprecate the value "random" for "rrset-order" option.
This option allow specifying an order of the resource records in the responses. The "random" value for "rrset-order" option will make named return the resource records in the RRset in non-deterministic order. However, the order is not fully random (all the permutations are not uniformly distributed) and the cyclic order serves the same purpose of making the first record in the RRset uniformly distributed across all of the choices. The option will be marked as deprecated as of BIND 9.20 and removed in BIND 9.22. The current proposal makes the 'random' to work same as 'cyclic' and to be removed later.
