Perhaps you're both right, sort of. http://www.isc.org/software/bind/whatis : The name BIND stands for "Berkeley Internet Name Daemon" Wikipedia also mentions both versions of the name, on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BIND : The acronym of BIND is Berkeley Internet Name Domain in a technical paper published in 1984. However, the most common acronym today and the one that can be found on the ISC web site is Berkeley Internet Name Daemon.
